What is "Tolls by Mail"?
Under a pilot program by MTA Bridges and Tunnels, tolls are being collected at the Henry Hudson Bridge (HHB) via non-stop All Electronic Toll Collection (AET). No cash is collected at the toll plaza. Vehicles with E-ZPass proceed as usual; vehicles that do not have E-ZPass also proceed non-stop and cameras will photograph the license plate and a TOLL BILL will be mailed to the registered owner.

"Tolls by Mail" saves customers time because they do not have to wait in line and stop to pay at the cash lanes. It is also good for the environment by reducing pollution caused by vehicles idling while waiting to pay cash tolls.
How does "Tolls by Mail" work?
TOLL BILLs will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, using either the address provided by the relevant state motor vehicle office or an updated address provided by the United States Postal Service. TOLLS BILLs will be sent periodically, depending upon your travel frequency and the amount of your accumulated tolls.
Will I pay more for "Tolls by Mail"?
No, tolls charged by mail are at the same rate as the cash toll. However the preferred method of payment for tolls on MTA facilities is through the use of an E-ZPass Tag. The MTA offers substantial discounts from the cash toll rate to E-ZPass New York Customer Service Center account holders. These include accounts managed by MTA Bridges and Tunnels, the New York State Thruway Authority, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Can you send my TOLL BILLs by email?
Yes, when paying your TOLL BILL online or through the paper payment slip, please provide your email address for future trips. We will also use this email address for other important notifications.
I am a private customer with multiple vehicles. Why am I getting separate TOLL BILLs for my vehicles?
Each vehicle will generate its own TOLL BILL. If you wish to open an E-ZPass account, you may register multiple vehicles and will no longer receive TOLL BILLs and your tolls will be paid automatically from your E-ZPass account. The MTA offers substantial discounts from the Tolls by Mail toll rate to E-ZPass New York Customer Service Center account holders. These include accounts managed by MTA Bridges and Tunnels, the New York State Thruway Authority, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
I am a private customer with multiple vehicles. I received an invitation to open an E-ZPass account when trying to pay one TOLL BILL. How should I proceed?
You can accept the invitation to open an E-ZPass account and pay this TOLL BILL while opening the account. Follow the instructions on the TOLL BILL. Please remember to add your other vehicle license plates to this account during the E-ZPass account sign-up process. You will have to pay the other TOLL BILLs separately by entering the TOLL BILL number and license plate number information and clicking 'Pay Now' on the Tolls by Mail website.
I am an E-ZPass account holder. Why do I get TOLL BILL(s)?
If you are an E-ZPass account holder in good standing, the reason you are receiving TOLL BILL(s) is because you have not added your license plate(s) to your E-ZPass account. If your E-ZPass account was in good standing on the date of the toll transaction(s), complete and return the customer certification on the back of the TOLL BILL, the tolls will be deducted from your E-ZPass account, and the vehicle license plate number(s) will be added to your E-ZPass account.
I have already paid my TOLL BILLs. Where can I go to view the details?
Go to TOLL BILLS and enter your TOLL BILL number and license plate number information. Click on the tabs TOLL BILL History or TOLL BILL Transactions on the left side menu to get to the transaction details.
I have been sent a TOLL BILL incorrectly and would like to dispute it. What should I do?
If you are an E-ZPass customer in good standing, go to TOLL BILLS and enter your TOLL BILL number and license plate information. Click on “Resolve TOLL BILL (E-ZPass Customers)”. To dispute your TOLL BILL for any other reason, follow the instructions on the TOLL BILL you received and send the signed dispute form and required documentation to TOLL BILL Payment PROCESSING CENTER, PO BOX 15183, ALBANY, NY 12212-5183. Keep a copy for your records. If you wish to dispute an individual toll transaction and not the complete TOLL BILL please contact the E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1-800-333-TOLL (8655) and have your TOLL BILL available.
